The Proactive Solution to Lockouts
A Letter From The Owner
If you were to ask me who was my favorite person when I was a little girl, I’d say it was my grandmother. Who I affectionately called “Grandy” a name I’d made up at the tender age 8 or 9. It was a combination of ‘Grand” and ‘Granny’. I was very proud of the nickname and so was she.
We did everything together. When she’d come and visit I was always in her room listening to stories or watching her cook for the family, doing laundry, or watching her gulp down Apple Cider Vinegar regularly because she claimed it cured all ills.
She taught me to be fair and kind.
She would also take me on errands. Some of those errands consisted of helping at the local food bank. From the age of 6 I was passing out food and toiletries to families who desperately needed them.
I didn’t think of it as community service I just knew that I’d have more time to spend with my Grandy plus I got candy as payment. I continued to assist with volunteer projects as a teenager not realizing the positive impact community service would have on my life and the lives of others. The need to help others continued into adulthood. From assisting the elderly with learning how to use computers, reading to kids at the library, community outreach, even training to become a CNA.
Later in life on a Fall day in 2017 I found myself in a tight spot financially. As tight a spot financially as those families I used to serve. I had just lost my job and was trying not to get bogged down by being out of work and knowing that whatever assistance I had available wouldn’t cover all of my bills. So on that day, instead of sitting inside, I decided to take my puppy Duck for a walk. I’d left the windows open in the apartment to get a breeze earlier, if only I hadn’t. Just as I was opening my door my puppy shot out into the hallway before I could put his leash on. Going after him I reached down to pick him up and then heard the horrid slam of my front door. You see cross-draft from the open window really gave it excellent force. And my heart sank when I reached into my pocket and realized I didn’t have my keys. So, there I was jobless darn near close to tears and now I had to find a locksmith. When I had to fork over the $300 that should have gone to pay my utility bills to the locksmith, I’d had it. Think about it. I was being charged hundreds of dollars for a gust of wind...
That’s when Keysurance was born.
So since then when’s the last time I locked myself out? That day. Hasn’t happened since. And since then I’ve had the opportunity to ensure more people don’t find themselves in the same predicament as myself. Giving people the peace of mind knowing that their extra key will not only be safely stored but also be delivered to them with fast and friendly service is one of the greatest rewards of being the owner of this company.
And I hope to continue to serve my community and those within it.
Best regards,
